Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 19, 2026

The Ranch Hand (“we”, “us”) connects horse and farm animal owners with experienced sitters and caretakers. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

Information you give us

We collect information only when you choose to send it through one of our forms:

  • Booking requests. When you contact a sitter through their profile, we collect your name, email address, the service and dates you asked about, and any care details you write in the message.
  • Caretaker applications. When you apply to become a caretaker, we collect your name, email address, phone number, location, and the experience you describe.
  • Contact messages. When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number if you provide one, and your message.

You do not need an account to use this site, and we do not ask for payment details. We are not able to accept payments through this website.

Information collected automatically

Our host and analytics tools record standard technical data when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and the site you arrived from. We use this to understand traffic and keep the site working, not to identify you personally.

How we use your information

  • To respond to your booking request, application, or question.
  • To introduce you to a sitter you asked about, or to a horse or farm owner looking for care.
  • To review caretaker applications.
  • To operate, secure, and improve the site.

Who we share it with

We share your information only where it is necessary to do what you asked:

  • With the sitter you contacted. A booking request is meant to reach a caretaker, so the details you submit are shared with that person.
  • With service providers. Our website hosting, email delivery, and analytics providers process data on our behalf.
  • Where the law requires it, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of people or animals.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Cookies

This site uses cookies for basic functionality and for anonymous traffic statistics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work correctly if you do.

How long we keep it

Booking requests, applications, and contact messages are stored so we can follow up and keep a record of introductions we have made. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Write to us through our contact page and we will respond. If you are in a place with specific privacy rights, such as the EU, the UK, or California, those rights apply and we will honor them.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you send us. No website can promise perfect security, so please do not send sensitive information such as financial or medical details through our forms.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
